An Ad to Support Rutgers!

Organized by Friends, Fans, and Alumni of Rutgers

Update!
OK, we have about 4k in the bank, we need another 5k to buy a 1/2 page ad that will appear in the front section of the Ledger, statewide, on Tuesday! We need the cash by Monday morning, first thing.

A number of you have emailed and told me that you have more on the way, and I estimate that will get close, so this is a reasonable goal.

Keep it coming!
Help Us Take an Ad out in the SL to Support RU!
Refresher: we are raising money to take out a full pageAd in the StarLedger in support of Rutgers and the Athletics program. And, with BobMulcahy stepping down, public support is needed now more than ever!

We have $3,600 in the bank. That is enough to take out a small ad for the whole state, or a big ad in a back page for a small part of the state. We want the whole thing, full page, front section, whole state. That will cost about $17,000. So we need about 13k more. The more we raise, the bigger ad buy we get.

The ad itslef will be a statement and will focus on focus on 3 basic points:

1.Theathletics program has had problems that are more characterizedasfoibles relating to PR and openness. But there is no scandalorwrongdoing and the SL should not try to score cheap points bymakingout that way. This will include some point by point refutationofunfair accusations.

2. By any objective measure, theAthleticsprogram has been brilliantly run. On and off the fieldperformance isremarkable by any measure, and more so given the state ofthe program10 years ago. This will include ticking off all thesuccesses includingAPR.

3. Crusading and muckraking against badgovernment andpublic corruption by the Star Ledger is needed andwelcome in a statelike NJ. But they lose credibility when they inventscandals where noneexist just because they smell blood in the water.

In edit: and maybe thank Big Bob for his service.
